A “beat” for Capital of Culture: the sweet was born from an idea by Iginio Massari

The shape is from Brescia, and the heart is from Bergamo. «Beat» is the dessert of the Capital of Culture born from the intuition of the master Iginio Massari and from the work of pastry chefs belonging to the consortia of the two cities.

It is a leavened dessert that recalls the consistency of Bossolà, but with the typical citrus flavors of the Donizetti cake of the Orobic town inside, with pieces of pineapple and apricot and with a layer of icing sugar flavored with maraschino.

The name and the graphics of the packaging were developed by the students of the Santa Giulia Academy. The name Battito was wanted to give a sense of rebirth and recovery inherent in the very sense of Brescia Bergamo Capital, two sister cities after the difficult period of the pandemic. On the other hand, the profiles of the two cities stand out on the box. Beat is on sale in pastry shops belonging to the consortium of pastry chefs in Brescia and Bergamo for 20 euros (half a kilo) and is already enjoying great success.

Not only. This project also combines sweetness and solidarity. One euro of each Beat sold will in fact be donated to the Tincoraggio association which seeks to help the parents of newborns hospitalized in intensive care because they are premature or with problems, hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit of the Civil Children’s Hospital in Brescia. The presentation of the dessert was held this morning in the Loggia.
