The prompt intervention of the emergency services

According to preliminary information, a 39-year-old man fell ill after diving. With him a friend who, seeing him in difficulty, promptly raised the alarm. Hearing the screams, three people who were walking along the lakefront rushed and dived to look for the victim. Shortly thereafter, a soldier from the Coast Guard also arrived who, free from duty and given the emergency situation, first gave the alarm to the operations room of the Coast Guard of Lake Garda and then intervened personally.

Recovery

The 39-year-old was identified by one of the first people who intervened, he was on the seabed. He was brought to the surface and then swam to the coast guard. He was later washed up, unconscious, on the beach. Here the military began the first resuscitation maneuvers. Within a few minutes, the Coast Guard unit arrived on site and took over the resuscitation of the soldier who promptly intervened.

Airlifted to the Spedali Civili of Brescia

Rescuers quickly noticed the man’s serious condition. The ambulance of Garda Volunteers transported him to the Lino Turina stadium in Salò where the air ambulance was waiting for him, which took off from Brescia and transported him to the Spedali Civili.

It is now up to the Coast Guard to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the facts. Also on the spot was a patrol from the Salò Carabinieri Company, which worked jointly with the coast guards, for the investigations and the Salò fire brigade.
